Do you guys leave the bike in first gear then shut it off ? Or do you guys shift into 1st. after you shut it off. I don't want to damage the bike so please let me know. And last but not least is it ok to leave it in gear when bike is off? Thanks...

It doesn't matter when you shift into first gear. Before you shut it off or after are both fine. You should park the bike in gear so it doesn't roll away. These bikes are not that delicate. You're not going to hurt anything if you treat it with reasonable care.

I leave mine in gear. You won't mess up anything, these bikes are tough,no need to over think it.

well the guys will be here soon to tell yah, but here's my thoughts for now.

I personally park my bike in neutral, always have. Had 4 bikes, park all the same..... why? ... well, maybe paranoia I'd have a brain fart and try to start it in gear... which I might'a lol
I routinally check for neutral before starting anyways, but just always park in neutral.
The only time I don't is on a hill. I leave in gear, shove my helmet cupped on tire for a block.

There may be a mechanical benefit to gear or not... we will soon find out...

+1 on that. As a new member you will get your first taste of a barrage of varying opinions, some of them being adamant that they are right and everyone else is full of crap. You'll have to decide who's credible, and make a decision.

By the way, welcome to the Forum.

Unless I'm parked on a hill I leave it in neutral. I think the neutral thing for me is a habit from when I had kick start bikes, but if you're on a level surface it ain't rolling anywhere.
Do whatever feels better for you.

I always put it in gear. Worse damage comes from rolling off the sidestand.

I usually wipe before I poop instead of after.

I'm not creating a problem, am I?

Leave it in gear - 1st. The way i see it, as others have mentioned, it is not going to roll away. Plus when i start the bike, i always pull the clutch in and the front brake, so it doesnt make a difference whether its in neutral or in gear at that point.
