helmet question/ticket

Just started wearing a helmet again. A HJC IS-33 3/4. Nice lid. Got a silver shield for it. Like that my eyes aren't watering anymore. If you've gotta wear a helmet, wear a real one.

Protective foam thickness in a helmet is kinda like ***** size, more is better. If I need to explain that then it's doubtful you need a helmet.

I understand the importance of a helmet. I laid her down last September and remember my head hitting the pavement 3 times. Would I have been ok without a helmet? Impossible to say, but I do know that the typical helmet looks like crap, and with a bad neck they start to weigh on my after a while, part of the reason I'm not in the army anymore. I need something lightweight for long rides, that meets the letter of the law, and looks decient.

Pretty much what I told him. Congratulated him on the nice racket he had going, then asked him if he didn't have anything better t do with his time? If you're gonna cost me money, you're gonna get an earful. Go catch a murderer/rapist/drug dealer... if I wreck my bike and die, the only person I've hurt is me.... get over it.

Retired motor officer
As a retired motor cop, I've seen my fair share of motorcycle crashes. I used to think the same way as you until I witnessed on more than one occasion novelty helmets inflicting jury in a crash. Upon impact, I've seen them shatter and impale shards of that novelty plastic in both ride and passenger...
I know it's not cool to look like the little green guy Gazoo from the Flintstone's, but better to look like him than look dead!
Sometimes, helmets do nothing more than provide your family the option of having an open casket viewing at the wake, but other times they do exactly what they're designed to do...
Before I retired, I would've written you too! Sorry but...
Ride safe and make the right choice!
All of the above is just my humble opinion based on life, experience and common sense and in this particular case supported by law in many localities!

P.S.
Same on you for taking his time away from the rapists, robbers and murderers... Now that he's done with you he can get back to real crime fighting! Did you remind him you pay his salary too? That's an oldie but a goodie too... Lol!
Personally, I'm not a big fan of seat belts. I can argue the point both ways, but until they change the laws, I'm not giving the system one more fat dollar than they already take from me, so I buckle up...
Whatever way you decide to go, ride safe!

I don't use the "I pay your salary" after 9yrs in the army it would seem kinda hypocritical. This guy has a reputation. He sits in 1 spot and pulls people over all day. I don't mind police that perform a service to society.... but pulling me over for a helmet is merely for padding the town's bank account... I'll show the judge no mercy either. I'll be respectful, but he'll know how I feel.
