Novelty Helmets

To each their own. If you want to wear a novelty helmet or not wear a helmet at all then that's your choice. Your choice that you will have to either live or die with. It's not going to affect me any so do what you want. Personally, I don't see the desire to look cool with a novelty on and risk cracking your skull instead of just wearing a DOT helmet. I do however understand and support the freedom of choice. The only gear I wear when riding is a helmet, gloves and goggles, but I figure broken bones and road rash can heal, my head cracked in half isn't so likely to heal up. It's sad that people die on motorcycles but we are all aware of the risks every time we saddle up. Have fun, ride safe.

Novelty helmets DO NOT look any cooler or better than DOT approved helmets. The little skullcaps are cliches unto themselves and really don't look any better than a huge DOT, Snell approved full face.
I don't even understand why folks are so worried about the mushroom head thing. How many shop windows can you check yourself out in? Plus the mushroom head is no goofier than a novelty german army, or a Fisher Price like beanie.
ALL HELMETS look kinda goofy.
So might as well just pick a decent DOT approved helmet to your taste and stop splitting cosmetic hairs.

So very true but this way, she avoids the truth, it makes her feel better and she's likely to be able to say, "Because of that helmet, I'm rolling in money...thanks mom!" Sad but too true.

Like how the daughter refuses to take responsibility for her mother's choice, and blames the company for selling the helmet.

I always wear a novelty helmet. To be compliant with the rulers i bought a "DOT" sticker at a flea market. All is good now and I feel much safer.

If you are going to wear a helmet, make it a good one. Besides saving yourself a few bucks, what's the point of going with a novelty? With some things if you are going to get them, you should go ahead and get a good one.
