Harley extended warranty??

Way too much $. Do a search on this subject. Jim Palmer at Kutter HD is probably going to be your best bet, unless your local dealer would match it.

Having just bought a new HD I asked the same question. The common response is how much do you ride? If a lot, say 10,000 miles plus per year, and you plan on keeping the bike that long it may be in your best interest to buy it. If you don't, less than 3000 miles per year, probably not. Anything in between is a guess.
Keep in mind, HD is betting you aren't going to need it, if you buy it, you are betting you will.

I plan on purchasing the 7 year extended warranty, including the tire/wheel plan no later than September.
The way I see it, it's an exceptionally good plan for those who will ride a lot of miles in those extra last 5 years.
I usually keep my bikes a long time and I'd hate to not buy the extended coverage and then blow and engine, or a tranny (done that before) in year 6 or 7 and have to pay for the parts and labor out of my very flat wallet!
If you can do without it, you're definitely money ahead and most financial "experts" are usually against these plans, but they won't be the ones sitting on a broken down bike several hundred miles away from home.

Best piece of mind you can buy
make sure you get the tire and wheel coverage as well. I've already had 4 tires replaced and the IPB twice, clutch hub and clutch, stator and a few smaller gasket leaks. Total over $4000 so far. Look at it this way, if you blow the motor it costs you $50. Lots of guys have lots of reasons not to buy it but I can assure you, that based on personal experience, it's worth it.

I personally didn't buy it. I would set that money aside for what may arise in the future, motorcycle or otherwise.

I ordered a Road King through Military Sales that I will take delivery on in September. I got the extended warranty. It's kind of like insurance and good to have if you break down away from home because it will pay for a hotel, food, rental car and your bike being towed to the nearest dealer for repairs. One event like that and it would save a lot of hassle and pay for itself.
