excellent job OP..i like how detailed you made this write up.. i do have a recommendation for ya..you should have just trashed all of the balancer components/assembly. That's what i did when i re-did my whole engine.

I have an S&S crank that was dynamically balanced by Revolution performance and had ALL of my balancer crap removed...no more balancer chain or tensioners to break!!! Bike doesn't vibrate much more than it did stock. Not to mention that much less rotating mass in the engine (about 7-10lbs)

Just a recommendation next time you have to tear the engine down!!

congrats again and I hope you get good numbers!

I thought about it but the ballencer guides didnt have much wear and im not really a horsepower junkie. Anything to make this daily rider smoother is okay by me. One of these days I will do gear drive but that would have added too mych to the cost of this build. As it was I wanted to do the Timken set up on the crank but ran out of cash. Next will be a head job and maybe a 1/4% bump in compression.

"Cost to build", always seems to be the deciding factor.

Appears my next hp move is a 107 kit with higher compression, then after that it seems to get really spendy.

Not so sure the need for speed can afford it.

Great thread Soft, thanks for posting it.

Why not stick with the 103. Not a huge difference between the two. Save your $$$ and when the time is right punch her out to 117 or get the S&S 124 kit that includes the crank and gear cams for like 2k.

Ya, makes sense but then we're talking winter project, lots of money and retirement budget.

The pistons seem about the only thing I can do with out splitting cases, but I agree, might just not be worth it to go with the overbore and slight comp raise.

Wife says to just ride the damn thing and enjoy it, she may be right on this one.
