Default Lost a rider today

My daughter freaked a bit as she was coming home. A bike went down at the entrance to our subdivision and she was worried it might have been me. I didn't hear sirens so I hustled to the end of the block fearing it might have been a neighbor, it wasn't but it was a local LEO. Very sad..the SUV "just didn't see him.

So sad I feel bad for his family and friends. When will I just didn't see him no longer fly? No charges really!? How many riders have to die before a driver is held responsible?

Wonder if the person driving the SUV was texting ? Hard to see what's going on when your looking down.

I agree with "no charges", maybe there are some to come since it was on a holiday. I'll try and follow the news to see what happens. It made me sick to my stomach and I didn't see the victim, as he was already in the ambulance.

I did think it was weird that there were so many officers on scene. It was a VERY somber scene from the first responders.

How do you not see a rider??? The ONLY way you DON'T see a rider is because you were looking in your lap at your damn phone!
Very sad.

Just sad and senseless. Another rider lost to a careless driver who's "blind". But I don't get the "no charges" crap. They would have to with a fatality or it's open season for anyone on a bike, bicycle or walking.

Seriously? If you've been riding for a while, you'd understand just how many drivers don't see bikes. Sure, too many of them are distracted, but others can be looking you straight in the eye and still not see you.

It's best to ride like you're invisible, because to so many bad drivers on the road, guess what, you are invisible.

To the officer and his family, deepest sympathy.

I was in the car this afternoon and had a motorcyclist with a female rider on the back pull out from a sidestreet not even looking. I seen him coming and hit the brakes. He finally turned his head my way and wobbled to a stop. I was coming from his left down a fairly large hill and can't fiqure why he had his head cranked to his right.
