Thats a heritage shifter arm....I put mine in a vise it's only a couple inches shorter and does work with the shifter linkage . I ordered a shifter on flea bay, for 20 bucks shipped.
Great looking forward to seeing the pics. Don't worry, after over 40 yrs as a cop not much intimidates me. Plus, I come from a family of 7 kids and my wife and I have raised 5 children...so dealing with childish behavior has been my life.
Regards and Blessings to all.
I've always like the Switchback because I like the "FL" look in general. That's why I put the tin kit and floorboars on my FXR. I tried to get my wife interested in one for a back up to her Deluxe but she ain't having any part of it for some reason.

I did not know anything about the H-D Switchback FLD103 until I found mine at the Ventura H-D Shop. It fits a need or desire for a more compact and flexible bike. One that fills a need. Not everyone can or wants a big heavy motorcycle. Think about it... H-D has created a multitude of styles and designs in motorcycles to reach out to the wide range of riders. Why is that wrong? If it works for you go for it! Be proud and happy. Ride on with freedom!
Regards and Blessings.
