Well,
I guess it's just too nice a day out there to concentrate...I read it twice and I guess I don't correctly understand the concept or the difference in the concept...looks to me like you're decribing a......Motorcycle Shop???

I was approached by a guy last summer that had the very same idea. I showed him the shop we had for lease and never heard from him again. Maybe the idea of paying all that rent scared him There are some Quick-Lube places that do oil changes on V-Twins now, but I wouldn't use them.

Not enough riders will trust someone touching their scoot except those they really know and trust. Dealers aren't likely to do this cause they are hooked on getting big bucks.
AQUALITY indy shop could maybe make this work because of the lower overhead, opportunity to create customers and interest in other stuff they can do.

I think you have a great idea. I would use it. However , not sure if you would have enough year round service to keep you going.
I have talked to the owner of our local lube/auto detail shop about expanding to include bikes. This way you have year round customers and are not limited to just bikes. Also, I would not limit it to just Harley's.
I fully understand others wanting to wrench onthere own bike, but many of us only have limited time and would rather spend that time riding.

Like most of the members who have answered, I think the concept is good if you have the right location and all, BUT, as far as my bike, changing the oil isn't too time consuming and something that most of us can do ourselves. Besides, all you'd have to have is one bike fall off a lift or table and get damaged, and there go the profits for the week, or more. The other problem you have is that even if you could get enough people to use the service, unless you're a certified mechanic, the first time anyone has an engine problem you know where they'll be looking to pick up the repairs, even if it had nothing to do with the oil change. Unfortunately, just today's climate in the good ol' USA.

The people with no knowledge of mataince will believe anything the steeler tells them. most will use the stealer cause it is genuine HD parts and service. They have spent so much on their scoots.........They are afraid to use anything that isn't HD. They are dealer sheep and will be as long as they don't know any better. I don't think many would risk their costly scoot to a quick lube.Only because they have been duped by the dealer and are newbies. I like your idea, but don't know if you can get the volume you'll need.
