they are passing with public support a noise by law targeted at motorcycles. 92db limit measured minimum fine $250 maximum fine $500 and/or plate removal onsite. yes it applies to all motorcycleists including tourists.

and yet another example of the loud pipe guys with no respect( or common sense) for others' right to peace and quiet. there were obviously people with loud obnoxious pipes creating a nuisance. so many of the town's citizens were upset that they got their elected officials to do something. now everyone will suffer.

Agree that no baffles is crapping on the rights of others. But I can have performance without rapping the throttle. Around here it's usually glass packs on the pickups that shake the walls. And BTW, what up with eastern Canada?

if stock pipes on some bikes fail the test they should soon have so many people in court fighting the tickets that judges will just start throwing them all out . at that point the cops will no longer issue the tickets because it's not worth their time to show up in court to fight a losing battle .
personally i think some pipes ARE too loud , not just on bikes . also those ground shaking THUMP THUMP THUMP stereos some guys have in their cars .

this counciler tried to enact a simaler by-law in st john when he was on that city's council as well.
now, last month an orginization offred to test anyones bike followign the parimeters of the proposed by-law and SEVERAl new bikes with stock exhaust did not pass the by-law requirments. in fact the city's buses DID NOT meet the requirments ubnder this proposed by-law
this is NOT an issue with the "loud pipes people" nor has it got anythign to do with "so many of the the towns people being upset"
and as it is written if you do not meet the testign requirments at the time of testing your licence plate and vehicle registration *even tourists from otu of town* will be seized until such time as you can fix and pass the test

Not sure how they can do that, is every cop going to carry a db tester? How else can they decide who is legal and illegal?

the way i understand it is the city has purchased X number of db meters and trained a select number of municipal officers to test vehicles, if a police officer suspects a vehicle of being louder then 92db at 20" fro mthe pipe they call for a tester to coem and test the vehicle if it fails the seize your plates and registration until its passes and issue a minimum $250 fine

Thanks for the warning NSCoyote. I'm planning a ride to Nova Scotia in the near future & the path could very well pass through Fredericton.
If I make a loop through Quebec City to Nova Scotia & then head toward Bangor, are there better roads than Route 2?
