Mechanical problems on Test ride
Hey all,
I just sold my Honda shadow 600 and went shopping for my big-girl bike. tested a custom 1200 which I absolutely hated. I got off disappointed thinking to myself "what's the fuss about a HD?" Then a female rider friend suggested I test a street bob. Just cruising aound the parking lot, I understood what the "fuss" was about and what they mean when they say a bike has "soul". Initially I was intiminadetd by the size, mostly because I have only ridden 2 seasons and only the Honda. I was so excited, I knew instantly that I had found "the one"!
Unfortunately about 2/3 of the way into the test ride, I noted oil all over my right lower leg and boot. I pulled over and it was bubbling (?) and smoking.
Long story short, if that didnt happen, she'd be sitting in my driveway right now. Sales mgr told me that occaissionally when bike arent "blow out" by frequest riding that this can happen. They lowered the price and gave me a 3 year warranty for $800. They are also doing a complete service, changing all fluids, etc.
Being from Jersey, I just wanna make sure this isnt a "flood" bike. Anyone have any experience with this bs happening? My only other option is to sit and wait for another used or go on a waiting list for a new one...
2011 Street Bob, 729 miles, no add-ons (completely stock)
thanks...

It's likely the oil issue as stated, but if you don't know the dealer you might want to do some homework. Run the VIN on carfax, get feedback on them from the forum. Plenty of new Streetbobs from good dealers if you have doubts. Might have to drive a little out of your area, but should be easy enough. IMO dealer should have sorted it properly before offering test rides.
