I found this old m/c license plate in a dump years ago. I use it as a wall hanger in the shop and am curious if I should restore it, or leave as-is.
Does anyone know a company that restores porcelain plates?

 

Sometimes the value is lowered if the object is restored, maybe a good antique dealer could tell you.

It looks good just the way it is, cool find.

 

Thx, I did a little research and found them both unrestored and restored (with paint). I don't think there is a way to re-porcelain them, yet there are bathtub repair type paints.
Unless I hear something definitive, back on the wall as is.
btw, this style plate was used 1914-1919 and it is missing a "tag" that I believe was used for registration and examples I've found on-line are in the shape of a bear, poppy, bell or star.
