True. I've sometimes done that in real life. Then realized later, oh sheet, I forget to even thank the guy.

I feel very "self-righteous about how [you're] a whiner and [you] just shouldn't answer, etc. "

Seriously, I think the internet is going to be the death of common courtesy. Thanks for reminding us that there are still people on the other end of these posts.

I've had the opposite experience.
Every PM has been friendly with an ending of thanks for any help offered.

I feel you man, I have asked many memeners on here for advice and always show gratitude. But lately I have been asked questions and never hear from them again, and some of the answers to some of the questions are on a lot of my posts. Do some legwork people, and if you come back with a blank then ask, I dont mind answering questions and helping out, but come on people!!!

I agree, there is room for more appreciation. However, (right or wrong) I take into consideration post counts as a means to determine someone's legitimacy, mainly when considering if I am going to purchase something. I would rather that post count be due to quality posts versus a bunch of "thanks", "^this" and other inane posts that waste space and increases thread length for no good reason.

That said, I'm just as guilty. Like you I want to make sure someone who takes the time to answer a question is appreciated.

Sorry to say, I was kinda thinking the same thing...it would be interesting to if it really is the younger guys. It seems its a "somethings owed to me" generation.

Sorry for the generalizations and Thank you, have a nice day...lol

Well, I do think it has a lot to do with how you're raised. Growing up, Please & Thank You were part of the regular verbiage in my house. It just becomes natural that way. If you never heard it or weren't taught to say it, it comes a little harder OR not at all.

Parents can make or break you...
