Maybe a little "thanks" when asking for modification info

True. I've sometimes done that in real life. Then realized later, oh sheet, I forget to even thank the guy.

I feel very "self-righteous about how [you're] a whiner and [you] just shouldn't answer, etc. "
Seriously, I think the internet is going to be the death of common courtesy. Thanks for reminding us that there are still people on the other end of these posts.

I feel you man, I have asked many memeners on here for advice and always show gratitude. But lately I have been asked questions and never hear from them again, and some of the answers to some of the questions are on a lot of my posts. Do some legwork people, and if you come back with a blank then ask, I dont mind answering questions and helping out, but come on people!!!

I agree, there is room for more appreciation. However, (right or wrong) I take into consideration post counts as a means to determine someone's legitimacy, mainly when considering if I am going to purchase something. I would rather that post count be due to quality posts versus a bunch of "thanks", "^this" and other inane posts that waste space and increases thread length for no good reason.
That said, I'm just as guilty. Like you I want to make sure someone who takes the time to answer a question is appreciated.
