Default Scatches

I had the fork legs on my fatty replaced with the crome ones and sat the bike in the garage for a few weeks will the weather warmed up a bit.
I took it out and gave her a bath and noticed on top of the forks where the bolt goes into the top of the forks there was a circular scratch along the outside of it right where a wrench would have dug into the crome.

Also on the other side there was a like someone had run a file acrossed the top but.
My question is should the local dealer replace these scratched items?

I feel they should becuase IMHO harleys being what they are with all the crome and stuff should be handled a litle better by the techs as to not scratch em up! After all Im the one paying big money
so I should be able to put on the first scratch LOL.

Unless your rolling the bike into a plastic bubble next, it's gonna be scratched real quick once that road debris starts hitting. I'd say screw it and move on.

Well, it happens once you just let it go, at least if it's not in a place where it'sa neon sign that says "scratch, look here I'm a scratch". Now it happens again, buy yourself a 32mm long handle wrench from Snap On. That's your negotiating tool for why they'll be replacing the chrome. Remember, if negotiating doesn't go your way, shove it up their ***.... sideways.

I had the dealer check for a short in the electrical. Got it back and all was OK. Two weeks later I notice a scratch on the rear fender, most likely from removing the seat. Did I do it? Or Did they? How could I prove it? What would they really do? My wife said it dosen't hurt to show them the scratch. This scratch was deep and very noticible, but if it wasn't I'm not sure if I would have made the fuss. Good thing I did, cause they re-painted my fender and took out a dent that I put on myself. All for free. Except they had my ride for two weeks.

If you don't tell them about it before you leave the shop, you won't get it replaced by them.

save the mechanic for when you have real issues.

the lick-em and stick-em chrome doo-dads (yeah, that means forks, swingarm, derby covers, handlebars, forward controls, levers, tank badges, tassles, mufflers, airfilter, pcIII, and whatever other gaRy bs they can heap upon you) you should be able to do yourself.

same goes with routine maintanance. change yer own oil, filters, plugs, and other easy items.

many people dont have time, etc. whatever. you let these dealership goons touch yer scoot, you get the best minimum wage can scrounge, and that aint much.

when your tranny explodes, or oil starts barfing out of your air filter, take the bike to an indy mechanic. if youre not interested in doing the rebuild yourself.

its not right, but so be it. dont loan out your bike, and dont let ham fisted burger flippers wrench your bike.
