Default Bad after-sales service. Need advice.

Hi folks,

Just bought a 2006 FLHRC from the same dealership that it was originally purchased from by the previous single-owner. So all service records are intact and the mileage is low too.

I did see a small dent and scratch on the front fender, and the dealer said that he will get it fixed.

I purchased the bike over 3 weeks ago, and at that time, the dealer told me that it would be ready to take home in 10 days' time.

I have made repeated attempts to email and call my dealer, and both, the salesman and the manager both say that the fender is being fixed, there is a huge back-log because of the busy season, and they will get back to me with when it will be ready.

I cant believe that a small dent and touch up job should take this long. How long should I wait before calling HD customer service?

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Warm regards,

Dhawan
Chicago.

Chances are they sent it to another shop for the bodywork

How are they fixing a "small dent and scratch"? If ordering a new fender from the moco it can take some time. Most dealers don't "fix" dents and scratches. I just went through this with damage to my front fender and was totally shocked to get a call just two weeks after parts ordered to make a date to do the replacement. Mine was two toned with pin stripes and not long ago it would have been 4-9 weeks for parts.
Why they tell you ten days and then it takes more I don't know. I think they fear a confrontation and tell you what you wanna hear then hope you will forget about your bike till they call and say come get it.
What dealer? I am in Kenosha so Ukes is my "go-to dealer".

Leave the fender with them and ride without. Might look cool. Don't know I have ever seen a Road King without a front fender on the road.

If they say there's a back log, what else can you do? If you've already paid them, I don't know what you can do. If you haven't, you could tell them to forget it. That'll teach them. Or you could just wait.

Back log? Hd dealerships are not body shops. They give you any details on where your fenders at? I assume if they were ordering a new fender they wouldn't have kept your bike until the fender was ready to install. I'd press them for exact details

They could have sent it to one of those paintless dent repair places. I have never seen a HD dealer that had a body shop (do you call it a body shop if the thing they are painting does not have a body) as part of the service center.

I think you should consider yourself lucky that they are fixing something like that on a used bike
