Just so everyone knows, Paypal does not offer any protection. PERIOD. I was ripped off recently, filed a dispute and they found in the vendors favor. I provided pictures and emails that showed the vendor was dishonest. They still found for them. I guess that's because they get more money from them than me. From here on out, it's AMEX or nothing...

 

Paypal for Ebay and VISA or MC for everything else.

 

Also, I'm pretty sure the credit card companies (MC and Visa) prohibit their merchants from charging your card until they actually ship the product. You could file a complaint with them and he might lose his ability to accept credit cards.

And if all else fails, file a small claims case... it'll be cheaper for him to refund the money than have to appear (and then be ordered to refund it anyway).

 

Speaking of exhausting, that is what I am doing here. I was giving this company more than a fair chance to reply (9-10 weeks worth) due to their proclaimed hardships (he mentioned a system crash, which is nonsense I work in the IT field, their are backups especially for a business of this size). I'm simply using the forums to warn others and taking one step closer to a more drastic approach.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll reach out to my bank just to see if they can do anything. FYI funds were taken out within the first week.

Figured I'd share. Seems others have ran into issues as well.
