Finding a room at the Inn.

I envy all of you that have the time, the money and mostly the drive to travel like you all do. I don't have any of the 3 things I listed, to make it happen for myself. So my hat is off to you!

I usually ride until I feel like stopping. I'm not the type who can determine WHEN I'll feel like stopping. Some trips I'm ready to stop and relax by 7pm, Other times it just feels realy nice to sit there and ride and I might go until midnight. I've only had problems getting a room on a few occasions when some event was in town (like in Carlisle PA when they had some big car show out there).
I don't know how it is out west but here on the East coast don't be shy about asking them to lower the price of the room. I'll always ask them "Hey, can you do a little better on the price"? 9 out of 10 times they will knock off at least $10. That might not sound like much but I don't know very many people who would see a ten dollar bill sitting on the ground and just walk by it without picking it up.

I basically do this very thing, but it is so much easier on the Internet; and since I can do this at 2 in the afternoon, I can extend my riding time by an hour or more, stress free.

This is the way I prefer to travel. Ride till I'm tired or my wife says enough already. The only time I make reservations is if it is around a major holiday or spring break in popular MC areas.
