I'm getting ready to replace the head pipe on my 12 flhx. I got a manual and it said that I have to use an O2 sensor wrench to take them out. Is this true? Do I really need to buy a special tool to take out an O2 sensor? I am not a mechanic, don't even play one on tv. I can muddle my way around the external portion of a car but I do want to start doing my own service on my bike. I figure this will be a good start, then on to a stage one.

 

I've not done it but I would think that a line wrench will do the trick.

 

Box end or a crescent wrench will work. I've changed a ton on cars and bikes and have never needed a O2 wench/socket.

 

Changed a bunch of them and never had the fancy tool.

 

O2 sensor wrench = 15mm or 18mm open-end (depending on year)...
