I found a 1998 road king with 12k on it. It starts right up and idles good, it just needs a good cleaning. now I've heard bad things about the Magneti Marelli EFI, but I think I would kick myself in the a** for not getting it. any opinions about Magneti Marelli EFI would be awesome. preferably from people that have owed or ridden them.

65,000 miles on my '98 injected Ultra with never a fuel injection issue. The trick is not to try to hop up the motor too much.

(And the 98 Evo Motor overall was one of the best too.)

Go for it. And while I'm here helping your decisions, buy me some pipes.

I had a 99 Ultra with the M&M FI. Like Stiggy said when you start the mods, you start the potential for problems. Mine had the Stage 1 done when I picked it up with some aftermarket slip ons and pretty much otherwise stock. I decided to go to V&H true duals which started decel popping etc. Had to then go to a tuner (which has some limits simply because of the M&M) and could just not get it tuned perfectly and was always chasing programming. Finding parts to service the M&M and finding someone old enough (experienced) with a good understanding of it's workings can be a challenge. When the M&M is working it's a great system, when it's not it can get frustrating.

Good luck whatever decision you make!!!

I've got 50000 miles on my 01 twin can with MM injection. I done the 97" BB with shaved, ported heads with bigger valves and the Woods 575 lift can. Still running stock MM with 0 problems so far. Run good fuel, clean the air bleeds on occasion and ride it.

Get it. If the FI starts acting up. it's easy to go carb.
