Default Helmet - Non Dot but better then novelty?

Just curious..

I don't like the big half helmet I have so I ride a lot without one. The novelty helmets I've looked at seem to have just no protection at all.

What other options are there to find a decent helmet that probably isn't DOT but does have a tad more protection then just a fake shell?

I'm sorry, but someone had to do it - here's your new non-DOT FF lid...

Skull Crush lids are great and made in the USA. I tested mine Wedneday night with a hard impact to concrete. Didn't save my front teeth but definately kept all the brain matter in place.

I guess I don't get the question. If it's non DOT it's a novelty helmet.

Non-Dot helmets don't provide any real protection. They're just decoration. You're fooling yourself if you believe anything else.

I'm guessing there are some helmets that are not as "huge" as the DOT half helmet, and some novelty helmets that are not just a thin shell with no padding/protection. Something in the middle that will provide at least some sort of protection.

But who knows Harley_Dude...maybe every single novelty helmet is built the exact same way........
