Default Synthetic in Clutch?

We were having a discussion the other night whether it makes sense to use synthetic in the clutch. Does it not lead to slipping? Opinions?

No it doesn't lead to slipping, the factory puts it in all the cvo bikes with no problems. are there better things to put in there? I believe so, but I'm not starting another oil thread. do some research here and choose your poison. but syn oil won't cause any problems

Always check with the manufacturer of the clutch components before using Synthetic...!

maybe I was assuming too much by thinking you were talking about a stock harley clutch. other clutch manufacturers ask for different fluids, bandit wants ATF used for theirs. but if you are talking harley then my reply was correct

Specifically for Harley clutches.... synthetic in the primary is fine, provided it doesn't have friction modifiers. Look for oils with the "JASO MA" certification, which are compatible with wet clutch applications. I used Red Line synthetic primary oil with good results for several years. I'm currently running non-syn Rotella T 15W40, and I am just as happy with it.

I would not use syn oils made for car motors .. enhanced Friction modifiers added to them.

I would use only those that say safe for clutches, and I do use Mobil 1 Vtwin 20w-50 in my pri and motor.

I've been running Synthetic in my primary since the bikes first oil change and at 70,000 miles it's still working fine. The only reason I use it is so I can go longer between changes.

The only reason I like to go longer between changes is because it's too easy to bugger up those damn lil screw heads they put on the derby cover and I don't like having to buy the gaskets for the derby cover. The only reason I don't change the damn lil screws they put on the derby cover to something else is because I'm too cheap to buy new damn lil screws.
