MMI/AMI
I will be retiring from the Marine Corps in 2007, after 20 years (in ammo field). I would really like to spend the next 20-30 years doing what I like and am thinking about going to MMI and working at a dealership or independant shop in the South Caroliana area. Just wondering if any of you are MMI grads and working for a dealer and what your thoughts are. Also what kind of living, i.e. $$$ can one expect to make?

Semper Fi Devil Dog...I would be getting ready to retire in a few more years if I had stayed in but I made the move to the civilian sector after I did my 6 years in a combat unit out of 29 Palms at the end of 1996.
You guys make us all proud each and every day and I wish you nothing but the best now and after you retire...

I'm glad to see other Marines hanging around here. Much respect to all of you, who have gone before! I've had 2 recent tours in Iraq as well time in desert shield/storm 91, and have spent a lot of time away from home, so after 20 I think that's enough, time to be a husband and father again.
As far as my next career goes, I would really like to work for harley davidson, not only will I most likely attend MMI, I'm currently working on my business degree, so that maybe I can get hired on as a service mangager, and not be one of those dealers that a lot of bad things are written on the forums. I hope that I can get some hits, from guys/gals currently working at HD and get their thoughts. I very seldom use a dealer for my 01 RK Classic, I like the independant guy, but I feel like sometimes those guys/gals are not up to date with the most current bikes or mods.

12Stones, Houston. Might not be a bad idea. Texas is huge, bound to find a job somewhere. After 20yrs in this funny green suit, it's kinda scary jump looking for work with all the other working stiffs. Not much use for my military job in civilian life, so I have to re-train, might as do what I like right!

Yep. At least you'll have some income coming in though. I was unemployed for about 6 months before being able to find a decent job for myself. It'll be good to get out of that suit though; except for the times that you really miss it.
