Road Sofa Wobble, and the fix

Road Sofa Wobble, and the fix
Just finished reading the product review of the TRUE TRAC in the April 2007 issue of American Rider.
There have been threads that have stated that the 'myth' of Touring wobble is a head bearing, tire pressure, tire balance, etc problem caused by slack maintenace or self induced imagination. Don't let your maintenance regimen or standard pre ride inspections down, but this is a real problem, under the wrong circumstances.
Other products are out in the aftermarket, RideSTR8, is the other that I have looked at.
But don't believe 100 mph on a straightaway with no wobble sets you apart from the rest of the isolator world. I don't wish the results on anyone.
Take time to read and be informed about Wobble. Save some skin.

My 2002 RK is stable at over a 100 mph.Been there several times fooling around. The new one I'm putting together is going to built with all the latest and greateast just to be able to go over 100 mph if so desired. No,I don't do it all the time BUT,It's better to have it and Not it,than to Need it and Not have it!!!! That is my take on things.

The article states, "When mounting the True-Track, it is important to first ensure that the front and rear wheels are correctly aligned. This is done by adjusting the two existing stabilizers, which is best accomplished by a shop that has the proper alignment tools. Once done, the True-Track can be installed by the average Joe Garage wrench-twister."
Again, high speed staight driving is not the issue. When cornering at speed, the rear can, can, moveout of alighment in yaw.
(Flexing of the swingarm isolator in a horizontal ,yaw, movement)
The article references the 2004-and-newer Sportsters have a three point system.
Search under "Wobble" for more thread info.

I tried to find a service check point for alignment in the HD Owner's Manual, and while every 10K the links and motormounts are a service check point, there is not one for alignment, in the 1996 touring manual.

TRUE Track starts ist's web site off with these two pictures:
The next web frame is a big STOP sign and Rearsteer! Tank Slappers! Weaving! Wobble! on HD Rubber Mounted motors.
This is very, IMO, dishonest. That accident can not even be remotly releated to any of these things. That rider went down do to his own actions. He took his hand off the bars, his eyes off the road, so that he could point at the camera.

Wow,
That's an opinion. I guess this place is kinda like Church.
Don't be speaking the Trinity if it ain't in a RC Church.
Hope it never happens to you and if it does, hope you're up to accepting personal responsibility.
Glad you were there as a witness to the crash. I feel better now.
