Default Kuryakyn Pro-R Hypercharger Issue??

I just installed a Kuryakyn Pro-R Hyerharger on my 2004 Dyna Wide Glide. It has an 88 motor and stock carb. I bought the bike used and it has after market exhaust on it. The installation of the Hypercharger went well but when i started the bike, the idle is low and when it is at normal operating temperature it does not run unless i have the throttle slightly turned or the choke partially on.

Has anyone ran into this issue before? Do i just need to adjust my idle?

Thanks!

1st, adjust the idle on the bike to get the RPM's up a little bit. Then you need to adjust the Air/Fuel mixture to get a little more fuel into your motor. Too much air......not enough gas. That's why you have to have the "choke" out or have a little throttle working to keep the bike running. Here is a link that show you how:

Isn't there a vacuum line that makes the Hypercharger "work"? -- i.e., makes the butterflies open and close.

Is that hooked up properly? You don't have a bad vacuum leak, do you?

The vacuum lines are hooked up correctly. The carb was jetting when the exhaust was installed. I will try adjusting the fuel and idle. Thanks for your help! I will let you know if i have any additinal issues.

Well, this is just my opinion, but your problem is not jetting. I have never had a motor -- whether it be a lawnmower, car, motorcycle, or chainsaw -- that wouldn't idle or idled any differently even with the air cleaner removed.

Your problem is not that the Hypercharger is giving you too much air at idle.

You said the vacuum lines are right -- and I'm sure you're correct. But I had that Hypercharger on a Yammy once... and when the vacuum line got a crack in it where it hooks up, the bike didn't want to idle.

Good luck... hope you figure it out soon.
