your not new in here... but I am guessing you've never looked at the ((""Oil and Related Topic Section"")) in here in the Forum.......

Here's the Link in case you haven't seen it.... Its has a Poll that's been running for YR's (( LIKE -- 10 YEARS in here)) on what the most Popular Oils used in our Prim's,,, Engine,, Trannys....

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/oil-a...ted-topics-30/

As for me,, being a retired Machine repairman... I have --- after reading--- studying--and reshearching and try several oils,,,, have finally settled on Mobile 1 V-Twin 20-50 in all Three...

It shifts as good as any I've tried and Better than any I've Tried....

Been using it for the last 30k and I am sold on it.. Plus its easy to find and on sale every spring in our town at several Auto stores....

Yeah but I'll play along anyhow.

Summer
Valvoline VR1 50w conventional oil in the engine
Mobil 1 75/140 gear lube in the transmission
Regular Valvoline 20/50 in the primary.

Fall thru spring I run the same Valvoline VR1 but in 20w50.

I haven't tried too many different oils in the Sportster but so far the Mobil 1 V-Twin in the engine and primary/trans is working wonders. Much smoother than the old Pro 3 that was in it.

Valvoline VR-1 20-50 wt conventional in the motor, Rotella t 15-40 wt in the Primary, and any brand conventional 75-90 wt gear oil in the trans. I don't get guys that only ride their bikes 2500 miles or less a year, and think they need Synthetic oil "protection".,,

Seen my oil temps over 250 deg. too many times down here in Texas to not spend the extra coin for synthetic protection, reguardless of how long a person wants to go between changes. Conventional oil don't do well with those extremes, so the experts say.

That's Funny, My kids girlfriend called a couple days ago and ask how come after putting in 6 quarts in her car that she still could not see the oil level in the hole where she added the oil. asking when to stop putting more in.
