RE: Skunk Works
We had one nest in our garage once. Called animal contorl and they put her to sleep...I was surprised by that but they said it was all they could do.
Try things that are supposed to deter your pets (especially cats) away from an area. Like 04HarleyBoy said, be sure to secure the hole he/she uses to get in (and any other places he/she could access the same area)

RE: Skunk Works
Skunks are vectors for rabies and most state health departments prohibit their release....besides, after over 25 years of dealing with them there is NO WAY to release a live skunk without getting your face sprayed.
Here are two available options; one lethal and the other not.
1. Lethal - Place a Havahart live trap in a large black garbage bag. Rolle the bag over the trap opening so he assumes its another dark 'cave'. Roll the bag far enough back so you can safely peek into it from a distance but he won't get startled. Place cat food in the trap and set it out overnight near his den.Next morning, take a careful peek into the bag. If you see the skunk in the trap, slowly walk up to it from the rear (closed side) and roll the bag closed over the trap. With the bag closed, gently pick up the trap and fill it with exhaust gas from your car. Once filled, tie the bag shut and leave it alone for 15 minutes. This is a pain-free way of killing the skunk and in most cases (as long as he didn't see you andyou were gentle when liftingthe trap) he won'tspray. I've taken care of a lot of problem skunks this way and I've never been sprayed by one yet. If you try to release it alive...be sure to not let him bite you or you'll undergo the entire rabies vaccine and you'll stink like hell for a week.[:'(]
2. Non-lethal: Roll some moth ***** into the hole under your house/garage. The smell irritates their eyes and they'll move to your neighbors house.
If you have a food source near your house you may get rid of thisskunk but there'll be others moving right behind him. Most conflicts with wildlifeare created by people...the animal is only reacting to your mistake. Pick up the cat or dog food that you are leaving outside.
Take care.

RE: Skunk Works
Well,
The easiest way is to get as faraway from him as you can, spot him with a flashlight and pop him with a .22 pistol.....just don't shoot a hole in any pipes or neighbors.......................
Ya, I know, but I can't smell him from my house..........................

RE: Skunk Works
if you run at him shaking a salt shaker,,, he will sit still and let you pick him up by the tail,
which will not allow him to spray,,,,,,,,,,,,Try it!!!!
let me know how it works
hehe................. this'll be good

RE: Skunk Works
Thanks guys...A lotta good answers to my little problem. I was a hunter for over 30 years. Just lost that urge a few years ago so I'll go for the less lethal method. I remembered the mothball trick after I read it.
The salt shaker thing didn't work. Just snowed here and he couldn't tell the difference. He just growled, barked, climbed a tree and flew away...
I know he'll be back.He left his luggage.

This is an old time way of ridding your self from skunks as told to me by a Swede .
According to him it can backfire and be preparded for a much worse problem .
Toss lutefisk under the porch to get rid of skunks.(CAUTION: May attract Norwegians )
Lutefisk is whitefish cured in lye , pretty nasty from what I here .
