RE: Our Deployed Troops need YOU!
Can somebody tell me what we are allowed to send or what I should send? I mostly mean in the way of foodstuffs - i.e. candy bars, potato chips, peanuts etc.
Also, what else would be good to send? I plan on sending a copy of American Iron for sure and probablya Car & Driver and a Sports Illustrated.
But should I also send things like razors, razor blades and shaving cream? Would they need that or is that too boring.
Anyway, just looking for some suggestions.
Thanks!

I found this website: http://thefuntimesguide.com/2005/09/soldierpackages.php
It should get me started. Interestingly, cannot send any pork products, due to the Islamic faith. So, the Rinds are out of the question then.....

RE: Our Deployed Troops need YOU!
I think that this is a great thing you folks are doing. Over the past few years, my company has organized and shipped out dozens of military care packages to those BRAVE AND SELFLESS individuals serving in our armed forces. Several of my employees have family who have been deployed; husbands, a few sons, nephews, and cousins. My dad (deceased) was a decorated WWII Army veteran. I have nothing but the utmost of respect for those men and women whohave eitherserved, are serving, are retired or in the reserves. My opinion has always been that they don't always get the respect and support that they so deserve and have unquestionably earned.
Now I don't mean to **** anyone off by my final statement. But I've gotta' tell you. Sometimes it really gets to me (okay, it pisses me off royally) that our armed military personnel - those same individuals who are fighting for our freedoms and liberties - are sent outin the field - in many instances - not having all the tools and supplies that they need! A soldier in the field (in a time of war) should NEVER be short of having the most basic of necessities at hisdisposal. It sickens me when some of the ladies here in my officeshare with me some of the letters they receive from their relatives who are deployed. A soldier not having a damn bar of soap? No snacks to keep him energized and nourished? To me, this is somewhat of an embarassment and totally unacceptable. Thank God for good folks such as yourselves who have stepped up to the plate, organized care packages, and gave a damn. Well done!

RE: Our Deployed Troops need YOU!
Just wanted to let everyone know, that this is really appreciated by the troops. ****** got me an address to ship to in December. I got a nice letter back from a group deployed in baghdad. They really appreciated the support, it means a whole lot to them. It was very very easy to do. It takes a few weeks for the packages to get there so keep that in mind.
My hat is off to ****** for organizing this for our boys. Please help him out and support our troops.

RE: Our Deployed Troops need YOU!
Not sure if anyone can confirm this but I also heard Silly String is a prized item. Before you laugh, word is they use it to spray into doorways looking for booby-trap trip wires.
Has anyone else heard of this???
