Every time I have ordered a "lightest DOT made" helmet, I have been disappointed. It is either larger than the pictures or not really DOT approved. I had luck with discontinued outlaw dot helmet and spent some big money on Kevlar thin helmets wo the approval. When I want to use a small non-mushroom head helmet I generally am happier with a novelty lid for 20 bucks.
At least during the colder months I need a full or modular helmet. I bought a shoei neotec and I know I am getting real protection but I cant takre them during the summertime
