Default BCT QQ baffles sound terrible, anyone?

I purchased a pair of BCT QQ baffles a few months ago, try to increase back pressure on my Short shot exhaust, it drives me crazy since day one. The sound is awful, I mean very bassy, I can actually feel more vibration riding at certain rpm compare to stock baffles. I know most people have the original BCT without the cones. I am just wondering if I should cut the cones, the thing is I cannot go back to original after I cut them lol. What do ya think?

FWIW; I had a softail and had put samson short slashers on them as they were contour to the swing arm. Thoughtfully designed. However. very tinny sounding, and as you say, no back pressure, so ordered the BCT's that would fit in the pipes.
The sound was improved 100% as was the back-pressure.
They did not have the cones as your's do.

I would call up Jim Maybeck the owner of the company and ask him if you will have any negative repercussions from removing the cones.
Personally I do not think that you will.
What are the cones supposed to be for anyway?

Put the QQ's in my friends son's Dyna which had some gutted short Sampson pipes. They sound much better (not tinny) and a nice boost in torque from the backpressure. Worked good on those pipes.

QQ's

I have talked to tech support, they said the cones are there to quiet the exhaust. If I remove them, they are just louder. Do you guys have the original BCT or QQ quiet?

I think that I had the original BCT that would fit inside the 2.25 inch diameter samson short slashers.
Mine were loud in a cool way.. Had lots of compliments on the sound.
If Jim says that they will be louder, is that not what you want, or?
You could always take a grinder and grind off the screen and spot weld them back on, no?

I had the QQ's in my V&H slip ons. They did have much deeper note to them but it was far from annoying (for me). Didn't notice any more vibration. After running them for a while I took Jim's advice and installed the stock baffles which I cut down. They sounded great and I probably would still have them if I hadn't tried the Cycle Shacks.
Maybe you want to try that stock baffle thing.

Yes, I want it a little louder, not bassy.
The cones are spot welded, if I grind them nicely, I would be able to put them back on if I want to.

Just sell them and put your old ones back in. The BCTs are all bassy. I have had both sets...The QQ are a little more so but not much...

Well, there's your answer then..
Grind off the welds, try em' and if you don't like em', sell em.

Hey do you mean the original BCT and QQ pretty much sound the same? If so, I will leave it the way it is or put the stock ones back on.
