I can't stand the forward controls, either.
Congrats on finding a nice clean bike.

hopefully that comes soon. i've never had this problem before doesnt matter if its 2stroke 4 stroke, car, i've never paid any attention to the tach and been fine but with this dyna i cant seem to get it. i feel like im either lugging along, or screaming. cant seem to find a happy medium with it
then again its not like i've ridden it long and i admit im a bit intimidated. not by the power but by the weight and turning so i was a bit overwhelmed.
i gotta go get some stuff to install a wood stove tomorow morning but im hoping to get a little more seat time in before the lady leaves for work.

You can buy the kit to move the controls back a couple of inches, when I had my Softail i paid about $140 for the control kit. The shop will probobly charge you an hour labor to install if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself. Nice WG.

Good choice - nice looking ride - you will enjoy it - just never forget - on the road you are a target - never forget that - Many folks just don't see you - never ride stupid which is sometimes hard to do I know - but I have been riding on the road for 50 year & never been down - I want you to be able to say the same thing later on - tom

not riding stupid on the road should be pretty easy for me. i got most of that out of me years ago in the dirt. the dirt is definatly more forgiving but going down enough even in the dirt is enough to teach you a lesson. im pretty conservative when riding, i had to be since i do my riding while most of my buddies are still sleeping off last nights hangover ment i was stuck riding alone miles from civilization. i dont try anything im not sure i can do. hell i think i was on a dirtbike for 3-4 years before i ever tried to RIDE a wheelie. (i dont consider wheelieing over obstacles riding a wheelie)
i still have my dirt bikes so ill stick to cruising on the road bike and beating on the dirt bike for as long as i can.
