Cam Tensioner problem 2006 Streetbob
Have a 2006 FXDBI streetbob awhile back i heard a rattling coming from front of motor couldnt seem to find but a buddy suggested it might be the tensioners and i might have to upgrade so i get in there and the 2006 apparently already has this upgrade. bike has 63,000 miles on it and im the second owner do these tensioners fail?? cause when i got in there my cam chain had about an half inch slack which could explain what i was hearing but what could cause this?? can i just replace tensioner. any help is appreciated....

Yes, they do wear out. And yes you can just replace the tensioner. Either with stock H-D parts or Cyco pads.

I have not heard of a sticking tensioner. You may have a blocked oil passage in the cam plate. Keep in mind that without the engine running there won't be any pressure to keep tension on them. You're sure yours is the new style without the springs. Just asking.
