Default Broken wing

Three days ago on my way to work I started to split lanes when an 18 wheeler tapped my engine guard, which sent me to the car next to me and then I kissed the pavement. Upon falling I tried to get up but my right ankle was crushed under the bike; Thank God I wasn't going fast. Another biker pulled over and helped me, he picked up my bike and helped me limp across the 91 freeway. I was discharged from the ER, with a broken ankle. Now progressive is going to pick up my bike from the towing yard and will fix it. My boss who also rides she said that now I've earned my broken wing patch...I'm just glad I'm whole and the bike is taken care of.

I still haven't tried lane splitting...even though it's legal and supposedly safer...for exactly what happened to you. Glad you're OK and that your bike is gonna get fixed up.

Get well soon.

Here in California is legal, but sometimes I can't be all safe. 99% of the drivers are paying attention and are civilized enough to share the road; but there are always those idiots that are either on the phone or just not willing to share the road.
Thanks man,

Yep, you earned your broken wings. Basically, the meaning is "I ride a Harley, but once a Harley rode me."

Heal up well & get back on your ride! Summer's coming!

Glad you're OK, but seriously? You think the 18 wheeler was one of those idiots? Don't you think it's more likely that he just didn't see you? Especially if you were splitting lanes at low speed.

Regardless, I have Progressive insurance and it's nice to know that they take care of their clients.

I understand that lane splitting is legal in California but that does not necessarily mean that it is safe or a smart thing to do. But hell, you already know that now.

Glad you came out relatively OK.
