I was a VP of a large club around 15 years ago. We met in the local VFW once a month. The big hit was the free food after the meeting. It ran from hot dogs to pizza to 6 foot subs. Once a week we held a local ride. Offen it was a car show at a drive-in burger place. Most popular was the run to a topless bar in NY state. We all seemed to be aficionados of the performing arts.

It amazes me the amount of disrespectful posts this thread got.

Hope you all realize a lot of these guys (at least with my group) are vets. Please keep the comments on topic or keep them to yourself. I take pride with the guys I ride with, they have all been very good folks who have helped me out and taken me in.

Some good idea's here. Thanks!

Main issue is.... A lot of the activities I have planned for my company and other members only organizations have been "meet and greet" style things for new people to meet each other. All this guys have know each other for many, many years so I need new fresh things.

Go to the local drag strip and have a run what you brung shootout. I do not know if your drag strip has an open night where anyone can run but that would be a fun night. You could bbq out in the parking lot afterwords. Just an idea.

Rasconzo...I don't envy your position, mostly because I lack imagination on these things.

But what little time I've been here on the forums, it seems some here, see HOG members in a negative light. And I haven't figured out why. We all own and ride Harleys but they chose to be in a non 1% club. I don't get it.

I'm a HOG member, only because I bought a new bike but I don't belong to any chapter and I'm not sure I want to. My time is limited on weekends, none during the week and I just don't think I would be a valued member of a club.

Good Luck to you.

A chapter I once belonged to had their meetings at the dealer. At the start of each meeting they gave each attending member a ticket stub & out the other one went into a jar. After the meeting, they pulled out 1 ticket from the jar & the winner got a spin on the roulette wheel for a prize.

The wheel had multiples of small prizes...t-shirts, $5, $10 & $20 discount coupons, hats, cups, etc. I dont recall anything over $25.00 retail. It was a good idea.

Disrespectful????
Lighten up Mabel, we are here to have fun. I am, by the way, a HOG member but I did not have to hand in my sense of humour as deposit for my patch.

Hey bro, don't have to spend a lot of time. We only meet once a month for meetings. But with us, we schedule lots of rides. All are optional. If you are looking to just get out and cruise with other Harley guys, might be worth looking into. Or just show up.

Plus, the state conventions are always a good time. lol

I dig this! Our dealership is very involved and tends to donate a lot.

Our dealer is also very involved. Mr Hoss has his chair right up front. It has been a long time since I have attended, but its a very good group of people.
Some for ideas,
1. rides out to historic battlefields. As a vet, I love these
2. Rides out to new places to eat, or pick a theme restaurant for the month
3. See what events are happening in your state, bike/car shows, festivals....etc There is the apple festival later his year in PA I plan on riding up too.

I would also recommend shorter rides for new members or new members who are not used to riding in a group. Help teach them spacing and such.
