I left a really nice pair of lace ups behind when I had to make a really fast exit once.

Go with a nice snug set of Frye's myself, haven't steered me wrong yet. Harness 12R or Engineer.

Frye belted harness no lace here as well. Not as cool in summer, but more rain resistant and more protection.

Thumbs up

I ride with both.

I use the pull-on engineer style if I'm just going to ride, and not walk a lot. I have somewhat curved feet, and the engineer boot rubs my big toes in such a way as to cause painful rubbing and blisters if I have to walk a distance.

I use the lace-up combat style, waterproof boot for most trips where I will be doing any walking or hiking. They break in very easily, and conform to my foot's curvature.

I didn't read this whole mess buut back int he'50s when I got into bikes at a young age anyone wearing lace-ups would have been thought pretty dumb. Too many shifters, brake pedals, chains, spokes, wheels, cable and etc to hook up a lace and cause major problems.

I don't even like wearing sneakers on the bike but I do on the way to work...

Was never interested in lace up with a zipper. Isn't that like wearing a belt and suspenders?
