If there was no way to keep both, then the bike is much easier to replace, less comfortable to sleep on, and is colder and wetter in inclimate weather, than the house. The bike would have to go.

That's a no-brainer. I'd sell my wife's bike.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Bike. I'd sell it in a second. You're out of your mind selling an appreciating asset to keep a depreciating asset, along with all the other common sense arguments involved.

I'd sell the bike then keep my eyes open for an old shovel that needed some tlc and tinker with it in my spare time.

I don't think the wife and two kids would like sleeping on the bike. I would have to sell the bike and get a new one once my luck changed.

As tough as it would be , I'd sell the bike. Unless you can sell the house to get another one. as life improves you can get another bike.

Can you rent the house or take a roomate until things improve ? It would be tough to replace the equity even with the future earnings. Invest a little time and money - ask a qualified financial planner or equalivent.

Your house is (probably) your most valuable/important assest, not to mention the "roof over your head" (pun intended)!! Sell the bike, get another later...
