Did you ever think to turn off the charger prior to hooking it up?????
Do us all a favor, in the future tell us what happened, and how you fixed it. Save your Cecil B. DeMille skills for another furum.
That was the plan ... it was a case of doing more investigation to find out what was still stopping it from running which turned out to be a) a flat battery b) the TSSM forgetting the fob and c) the process of getting re-associated.
I'd actually written all this up to share on another site and thought it may have been useful to other newbs and those as mechanically illiterate as me
Also thought I could just post a link to the blog that detailed the whole process and not have to re-type it all in again .. but couldn't ...so whilst I was dicking around trying to fix the OP I guess you clicked on it ...
Like I said - I'm still learning - so apologies if it wasn't 100% clear to start with
I'm frustrated watching you jack-up your bike by doing stupid pet tricks w/the charger. You might want to hire your maintenance & service work, bud.
No shame in having someone else do the work if you cant. That's why mechanics exist in the first place.
I'm all for learning how to wrench on your own stuff but you're picking the wrong machine to learn on. I think most of us learned on older and less expensive bikes. At least I did
Just realize the spark from the charger while charging a battery can result in an explosion. I had a car battery blow up in my face. And all over the truck I was putting the motor in as well as the 66 chevelle parked next to it. I couldn't hear for a week.
