Harley has tweaked the gearing in their 6 speed trannys since 07, so that should tell you something right there. Fifth gear was garbage in my 07 RK, loud and NO power. 07 tourers also had excessive motor vibration, putting a lot of stress on the motor mounts. I've spoken with a couple guys who's mounts actually broke because of it. Mine shook like a bastard at idle, I've never riden a Harley before or since that shook THAT bad! It's my understanding that they connected a stabilizer to the top of the front cylinder for 2008 which increased the overall vibration of the bike and was a major factor in totally redesigning the frame for 2009.

 

The only thing I can say I am sorry I sold my 07 SG.

07 Heritage with 41K on her. did stg1 at 1k and cams (Andrew-26H's)at 16k.

I've only had two things I've had to replace other than tires, brakes and a couple bulbs.
A new battery last spring and all new hose's and filter in the gas tank due to a pin-hole in the gas line in 2011 at 33k.

Other than these two she's been perfect for 6yrs..


07's Softes had a Recall on the Hot wire around the Oil tank, needed to be insulated better because the welds on the back of he tank wasn't ground off good enought.

Also seemed like a lot the of the Touring bikes has issues with the Comp coming loose. Bunch of them installed the SE comp. but it was as much a problem with the B motor.

I have 07 SG. The only thing I think you should do if it hasn't had it done is add the ISO drive system which is a $350 upgrade. Some say you don't need it. I did to get rid of 5th gear low rpm rattle/noise. No problems otherwise really. I did have the Idle control modual act up but I cleaned it and worked itself out.
