Good info...thanks man! After some research, reading the archives, and the replies, an 07 is just fine with me.

Default 07 good and such

Had an 07 FLHX, as with any bike the more you mess with it, they more you will have to mess with it. I had 20+k into mine. 103, lock up clutch to deal with the power, Tmaxx(stay away if your a newbie), new starter to deal with extra power etc..... Ran and performed great but each upgrade usually points you to the next weakness that was not designed to deal with what we are doing to our bikes....such is life. the biggest issue i found with mine was the dreaded tail wag/wobble. buy it do as little as possible to the engine internals and it will last....my brother had the same scoot and rode it hard stock, never had an issue. i had mine worked and rode it hard, blew it up.....lol. you do the math. good luck

My 03 is all stock with 51k hard miles. The only issue I had was compensator and trans sprocket nut come loose. All fixed at home. I leave my bikes pretty stock. I like to ride too much for anything else. The Chevelle fulfills my wrenching needs quite well!

Don't know about the Dynas, but my 07 Softail Custom, which I bought new, has had ZERO problems. I know others have had issues, but I highly recommend an 07 if it has not been modified too much [ie. more than intake, exhaust and ECU reprogram].

I bought my '07 Train in the fall of '06, and my best friend bought a new Street Glide at the same time.

My Train is my keeper and the best bike I've ever owned.

The SG gearing, and the noise in 5th, drove my buddy nuts, and he got rid of it a year later...he's been riding since the 60's, has owned more different Harleys than anyone I know, and he STILL hates that bike.

Love my '07 got about 50,000 miles with no problems. I use redline shockproof heavy in tranny and use formula + in primary along with Amzoil 20w50 in crankcase. And still original battery....always will be problems with certain components in any production run

I had an 07 Fat Boy for two years and it was a great bike. That year, the front wheel is off center in the forks to keep the bike stable at speed. they changed that in '08. There was some discussion of uneven tread wear on the front tire, that's all I ever heard bad about 2007 Fat boys...

I have an 07 SG...purchased new...my first HD. Just topped 40,000 miles...no problems to mention. Been reliable and great to ride. Also have a 10 Deluxe and a 12 FB Lo, but my SG is still my favorite.

You should hold off purchasing a Street Glide and check out the new Honda F6B. Looks cool and it looks like it will seriously outperform any Harley in all categories.
