hi guys. New here really got a choice to make. Currently have fld, had dreams of doing long trips, etc... However since got the bike went on two three trips of no more than 100 miles each way so 200 round trip. Originally wanted a sporty 1200 bobber, but went with a super glide at first, cuz the dealer said it's a girls bike, then due to no bags, abs,etc so I then bought q fld nice ride, butnfeel it's too big for me, not too comfortable with slow maneuvering. My question is is it smart to down grade from a light touring bike to a sporty? I know most will say ride what younlike but stuck on the fence. My riding buddies say I'm nuts for doing such a thing. What say you?

I'd say get the Sportster. You said you don't feel comfortable on your current bike. Quit worrying about what others think and get the bike you really want and enjoy the ride.

When I was going to get my ex a bike, I was going to get whatever she wanted.
The guys at work were, "You should get her a Fatboy".
She sat on a customized 1200 and liked it. It had shorter rear shocks and the triple trees allowed the front end to be lowered by loosening the 4 pinch bolts and sliding the tubes.
Once she sat on the Sportster, I pointed to a Fatboy and she said it was too big, (she was 5'2" and 115 lbs).
The guys at work asked what I got her and I told them exactly what she wanted.

I'm 5ft5 and just went from a sporty to a FLD. I just put on lower progressive shocks and a lowering drop in front end kit also. My suggestion would be to make the FLD fit you as it is so much more bike than the Sportster. Take the bags and windshield off.. but on a solo seat.. change the bars and you can make the FLD anything you want it to be and youll still have a 6 spd 103ci Harley that handles great. And can tour if you want....
