Too Cold to Ride.....In Southern California?

It can get too cold for me to ride here in Florida...I don't enjoy the ride unless it's around 75 or higher. Close to 80 today.

It's been getting down into the lower 20's in the outlying Phoenix area the last four nights, highs in the mid forties.
You are right, I'm used to the 110 degree heat in the summer and it sure seems cold to me right now.
Good news is the temps are supposed to climb back to normal in the next few days.

Rode some mornings here when it's been in the 20s. That's chilly. My face gets the worst of it. I need something better for the lower half than what I have now and a pair of heated gloves or grips might be nice but other than that it's not too bad. Just have to bundle up. The wind on the freeway is the killer.

I am a SOCAL native, born and raised closing in on 57 years. There's a lot NOT to like about this beautiful state, most all of it can be traced to those Poli butts up in Sacramento. There is much to like however with regards to year 'round riding weather and some of the finest scenic rides anywhere. Even my signature says "Year round ridin'". However the past few weeks have kept me off my sickle. I don't mind a little chill in the air but riding in 30-40 degree weather just takes all the fun out of it. I know I'm getting laughed at right now by you mid-westerners who think 38 degress is mild, but for the first time in all my years of ridin' I'm now looking into getting a pair of chaps. I never thought I'd see the day.

Don't do it! I've been riding the last couple of morning. 29 degrees at 6am at 80mph is not fun in jeans, but it's going to be back in the 40s in the morning and 70s in the afternoon this week. I think our cold spell is over for the next 20 years!
