Question Xelement Leather - what's the quality?

What's the quality of Xelement leather jackets from Leatherup.com? Is it as good as actual Harley branded leather, or at least close? The prices on-line are great, and the reviews seem good.

I recommend them. I have purchased jackets, boots, rain gear, helmets, chaps, bags, and probably a few other things over the years from them and never been disappointed.

Of course you will get the onslaught of "It ain't good unless you spend $700 on from (insert brand name here)".

Anyway, my dealings with leatherup have all been great. I have xelement boots and chaps. Boots are about 5-6 years old and still great, chaps are older and still great.

I have a set of their chaps and boots. Very pleased with the quality for the price.

I have a jacket of theirs and it's a decent jacket. Not great. I've worn it everyday since the beginning of fall and it has faded somewhat. But it is heavy and seems fairly well built. I think you get what you pay for. But I've seen much worse. The HD stuff is overpriced though. IMHO

If I had to do it over again, I would have gone with a Fox Creek.

I have had my xelement jacket for 11 years, it's my only jacket, and I ride year round in Colorado.

The color fades a bit over time, I touch it up once every couple years with Doc Bailey's and it looks as good as it did when I bought it.

Leather and construction are top notch. I've seen recent jackets at stores and vendors and they are still made as well as mine. Highly recommended, I would buy another if I had a need for one.

I have one of their jackets. I found it to be of very high quality even if it is made in China. leather is thick, zippers are top notch, stitching is great...no complaints...

I have this one:

Great looking jackets but do not I fancy god forbid sliding down the road with a jacket ( and jeans ) with a jacket for 150 ? , it's not for me as I would imagine skin grafts being something I would prefer to avoid.

For that price it's impossible for the leather to be up to taking the punishment of an accident , the stitching being done so it won't come apart etc. honestly it's too chep to be able to do what all the top brands do well. I have gloves more expensive than that jacket.

Buy it to wear casually but honestly think about it as protection for motorcycling

Last Christmas, the wife got me the Xelement Men's Zipper Side Cruiser Jacket. Payed $100 for it. Got a size larger cause of the comments saying it ran on the small size. Nice quality jacket with thick leather that keeps the wind and cold off.

The only complaint is that the sleeves are a little too long for me. Standing up, they come an inch or so past my wrist, but on the bike riding, they are right there at the wrist.

For the time I spend in the jacket during the short winter in southeastern North Carolina, it should last a good long time. They have my recommendation.
