Ummm....sort of. Let's say you want to register and sell medical products in 'Urp (my frame of reference)....You gotta' be CE marked...you wanna' be ISO, you need a 'Urpean office for representation for official complaints and stuff and for documentation....these guys can expedite and handle some of that fer ya'. Since we seek and obtain FDA clearance for our stuff, we are allowed to self-certify for CE marking, but we gotta' have a TUV representative for them Yuropean's to call if there is some issue...and they can have stuff on file there. Sorta' like consultants...an' stuff. It's complicated and I'm not regulartory affairs. But if you didn't have such a department, they could function in such a capacity (for a price!)...a stiff price. For example...they come over and inspect our facilities in order to maintain our certification for Canada....and it ain't cheap.

 

They are a 3rd party certification agency. They can validate your compliance with a certain norm. There are many agancies like them.

UL is a product safety certification. TL would be a product certification which involves telecomunication devices.
