RE: Sears Red Motorcycle Jack!!! Broken!!!
Thats why you definately do not want to lift your bike up without engaging one of the locks in case it bleeds down on you.Myjack came from Harbor Freight and has started to leak after 3 yrs of hard use.I got my use out of it,but I think I will opt for a better one for piece of mind.

Dawg,
Take it back to Sears... be nice, and there's a good chance that they'll take care of you. But, also little high production hydraulic jacks justseem to have failure rates that are out of line with their bigger brothers. And replacements, if you find a generic that matches up to the space, are really cheap.

I purchased a made in the U.S. of A. jack & it costs alot more than that China piece of crap. When the price is too good to be true , it is. I just don't think it's worth it to risk a damaged bike or broken arms, but that is of course is your choice.

All of these jacks; Sears, Northern Tools, all the ones that cost under $100, their "throw-aways" guys! Get one that's $200-300 for the long haul, or it's just get what you can from the cheepies!

For all of the other responses, thanks for your help. I am calling Sears today and asking about a return ( I know I'm screwed but I have to ask!!)
I'm going to do a search for other types of jacks that are a little higher on the quality side. I'll start a new thread if I cannot find one.
Thanks again.

Were you using the mechanical stops? Everyone busted jack I've read about was because were not using the mechanical stops and just using the hydraulics to hold up the bike.

About 10 years ago I spent about $200 on a Dunwell jack. Still works just fine. I'v found all kinds of interesting uses for it besides the bikes.

I bought the Sears yellow jack, because the red one wasn't low enough to fit under my bike.
