Windshields are for ***** azz old timers who can't take the wind in their face anymore.
I really don't mind the wind, or the rain, or the occassional snowflake & bug, but it's those g-danged rocks that hurt. I've had enough of them when I never had a windshield from 1961 to 2005. Now I enjoy my windshield, although it does cause a bit of wobbly stuff in real heavy cross-winds.
I wear a FF helmet also, but I would rather take a rock on the shield than in the visor. You'll understand what I mean when you do get one on the helmet/visor.
I dont have a windshield because I dont like the updraft of air in my face some of them cause...I prefer the wind in my face, not blowing my beard strait up!
I've been riding since '66. During that time I've had one bike with a shield ('83 Tour Glide). I didn't like it much. Looking through it distorted my vision just enough to be a PITA and looking over it seemed to put me into just as much wind as I had without it. Also, it was squirrely as hell in a crosswind. While I've had numerous rides since then I've never had another one with a shield. Ive been hit by everything from bugs to bird shot but I've survived ok.
A lot of Dyna owners would disagree with you. I was told by a well informed person, my brother in-law. Who owns a 2005 Fatboy with 1,600 miles on it. Sportsters are chick bikes.
I'm just razzing you. I traded two bikes and a fat check, (check not "chick") last year on my present 2011 FLTRUSE.
A 2010 RK and a 2009 Super Glide, both bikes had over $10K each in farkles & Stage upgrades.
If you visit Daytona you'll see those Boss Hoss "chick bikes" being test ridden by some fine looking ladies.
