Default Harley Davidson announces new tire supplier.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON ADDS MICHELIN AS SUPPLIER FOR REPLACEMENT TIRES
Tires to be available in Harley-Davidson Retail Outlets in 2007
MILWAUKEE (Jan. 30, 2007) – Harley-Davidson Motor Company will add Michelin as an official supplier of replacement tires for its motorcycles. Beginning mid-year, Michelin® motorcycle tires will be available at Harley-Davidson dealerships across North America.
“Harley-Davidson is an exceptional company and we are very proud to join them as a supplier,” said Vickie Johnson, vice-president of two-wheel tires for Michelin North America. “Michelin has been manufacturing tires for motorcycles as long as motorcycles have existed. In fact, Michelin invented the radial motorcycle tire in 1987. We believe that our motorcycle products will be a valuable addition to Harley Davidson’s existing product line.”
Dedicated to the improvement of sustainable mobility, Michelin designs, manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks, motorcycles and the space shuttle. The company also publishes travel guides, hotel and restaurant guides, maps and road atlases. Headquartered in Greenville, S.C., Michelin North America (www.michelin-us.com) employs 22,300 and operates 19 major manufacturing plants in 17 locations

Wonder if this is due to the recent Dunlop Strike that left a shortage of motorcycle tires?

I've had nothing but good luck with Michelin tires. Michelin also won a 10-year $1.7 billion contract to provide ground tires for every type of wheeled vehicle for all military branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines) around the world. They make an outstanding tire IMO.

I've run Dunlop 402's, 491's, and Continental Milestones previous to trying a set of Michelin Commanders last year. The best I'd ever done for mileage on a rear previously, was 8500....I got over 11,000 out of the Michelin and it handled better than any of the others I tried. I liked it so much in fact, I bought another set to put on my bike for the upcoming season.

I don't know if it is the commander series that will be offered on HD's, but I can recommend those tires at least.

Disclaimer: I'm heavier than most of you guys, and riding a bagger with a heavily modified motor.....you're results may vary.

I don't give a **** where the parent company may have originated....Just look at the map on this page http://www.michelin-us.com/north-america/ and you'll see lots of American workers will be bringing home paychecks from Michelin...As a matter of fact I count 17 plants in the US borders, which confirms this line from the press release "Headquartered in Greenville, S.C., Michelin North America (www.michelin-us.com) employs 22,300 and operates 19 major manufacturing plants in 17 locations"
