Default Hypothetical question for joining a group

There is a new Harley riders group forming in my area and if you want to join you have to answer a few questions. This was one of them and I honestly have no idea what the answer is.

"your doing 65 on the highway and your handle bars come off in your hands what do you do?"

So what's a good answer? The first thing I thought was close my eyes and pray. Could you turn off the bike and try to brake with back brake?

And remember, I did not come up with the question, I have no idea who did so please no comments about how stupid you think it is. I just want some ideas of how to answer.

I think my answer would be "crash" lol.. I have no idea if you can ride with "no hands" without the balance of the handlebars, but if so, I would say you could still let go of the throttle, pull in the clutch and brake.

Pull in the clutch & coast to a stop. Then shut off the engine.

Find a different group to join.

I would probably try to grab my turn signals and steer the thing to a stop myself .The forks could also be grabbed if you were over the tank even the risers could be used unless you had those sons of anarchy bars.My main thing would be trying to steer it while it might not want to deaccel------------------but what do I know about riding in large groups

With questions like that I would not want to be a member of that group. That is about the most asinine question I have ever heard. If their bikes are in that bad shape they should not be riding.

I would guess to not panic and try to keep it balanced and get if off the highway as it decels.

Let us know the right answer would ya?

Good luck.

Just realized that I could read what the other wrote who joined. The group was just formed so far only about 16 members and the answers kinda go with some of them here but my favorite so far is the guy who said "kick the *** of the last person that messed with my scoot"

That would be one of the times where it might not have mattered if you dressed in clean underwear that morning. Especially if you were in a curve in the process.

a. Buy a service manual.
b. Return torque wrench to HF.
c. Call a lawyer.
d. Reinstall the bars and continue the trip.
e. Ease off the throttle, slowly apply the brakes.
f. Replace underwear.
