Default chili cookoff question

We are entering a chili cookoff at one of the local HD's tomorrow and it states presentation matters. They provide the serving stuff and all we have to do is provide the crockpot and chili, so what would presentation mean? Any other tips welcome

The forum's Texican members can tell you all about that!!! It's stuff like fire extinguishers, free alka seltzer, a red telephone with speeddial for 911. That's 50% of the points in some of those great cook-offs

Use the colors of Texas, decorate the bowls with chili peppers and cilantro. Place bulbs of garlic around your table. Place bowls of cheese and onions around incase some one would like to add it to their chili. presentation is making the dish look inviting. Catch the persons eye. It makes them remember your chili and draws them to your table.

As stated earlier, some kinda theme would be good for presentation. Including making the bowl out of something funky.

And make sure the product has some garnish on top. Like a chiffonade of cilantro, or fanned-out jalapenos. Stuff like that. Visually pleasing does help their brains think something is better than it really is.

Ha, I actually thought about bringing a fire extinguisher as a prop, might have to give that and alka seltzer a shot! Keep 'em coming.
