I dont think that 1987 is correct as this engine is a twin cam, a TC88A i think as it has no rubber mounts. Therefore the L engine designation in the engine number is also incorrect as it says that the engine is supposed to be an Evo 1340. I'm lost can anybody help please.
This doesn't make any sense. The "L" in the engine serial number definitely means 1340 Evo, and the "H" definitely means 1987. Since they didn't make TC88s back in '87, maybe you're visually misidentifying the engine?
No way it's a twin cam if those are the right numbers you posted. What made you identify it as a twin cam? got a picture? super easy to tell with even a crappy pic..

Reading back through, this helps clear it up.
You are basing the idenity on if it's a rubber mounted motor or not. For one, you won't be able to tell just by looking at the engine how it mounts to the bike.
For two, you think it's a TC88 because it lacks rubber mounts, this is confusing, the mounting depends on the model it's mounted in, not the motor.
This engine has 4 bolt holes in the back of the block to bolt directly up the gearbox and the wider cam chest on the right side, so i believe it to be a TC88A.
