This doesn't make any sense. The "L" in the engine serial number definitely means 1340 Evo, and the "H" definitely means 1987. Since they didn't make TC88s back in '87, maybe you're visually misidentifying the engine?

No way it's a twin cam if those are the right numbers you posted. What made you identify it as a twin cam? got a picture? super easy to tell with even a crappy pic..

Reading back through, this helps clear it up.

You are basing the idenity on if it's a rubber mounted motor or not. For one, you won't be able to tell just by looking at the engine how it mounts to the bike.

For two, you think it's a TC88 because it lacks rubber mounts, this is confusing, the mounting depends on the model it's mounted in, not the motor.

You have a 1987 EVO from a Softail there...

Well, we can help find you.

Post up a picture of this "TC88," and take a pic of the engine number stamped on the left side of the case. I want to see this.

Do you know how to visually tell the difference between the two motors? Serious question.

I tried to attach some pics but even zipped it wouldn't allow me so i guess i cant provide the evidence you require for a correct identification.

This engine has 4 bolt holes in the back of the block to bolt directly up the gearbox and the wider cam chest on the right side, so i believe it to be a TC88A.

Put it on your local Craigslist and try sell it as a Twin Cam Then you'll REALLY know what you have.
