I'm 42 and bought my first "legal" bike last year...a 2012 SG.
At over 6 feet I don't sit on it but in it, has cruise control which is awesome, abs and tunes...I wouldn't have it any other way. AND the wife loves it!!! .02$

A couple years ago I took my OL to the local dealer and put her on the back of an Ultra. Went for about a 20 mile ride and when we got back the sales guy was waitin on us in the parking lot.
Parked the bike and got off. Sales guy asked my OL what she thought. She said it was the most comfortable bike she had ever been on.
He smiled, I thought..."looks like were gonna be gettin a bagger". Then, I asked her what color she liked and she asked, why? I told her after what she said I figured she was gonna want to get one.
Her response was, "I wouldn't go anywhere on one of those". I asked why and she said "it's a puzzy bike". Said she ain't ready for the retirement home yet (she just turned 60 and I'm 59). The look on the sales guys face was priceless and I was fine with it since I think they are kinda boring.
Not saying anything is wrong with them, they just aren't for everybody regardless of how old a guy might be.

Got our 1st bike - a 1995 Low Rider - in March 2001 at age 45. Traded that for a 2001 Road King in June of same year(should of got a Road King to begin with). Traded that for a 2004 Electra Glide Classic in 2004 & then that for a 2007 Electra Glide Classic in Sept. 2006. Finally traded in for a car because wife doesn't ride with me any longer & the hot summers in Georgia was wearing me out.
If I ever decide to get another bike, it will be another Electra Glide Classic or Ultra. As said before, it's all about comfort. Even riding 1-up, it is well worth it.
And when I bought the first bike, I swore you'd never see me on an "old man's bike".
Brother who is 6 years younger than me started on a Softtail & went similar route as I did & said he will never ride anything other than a touring bike.

My Softail has about 63,000 miles on it and trust me, it goes a hell of a lot farther than the local bars.

Guess im still too young and immature to value comfort over what chicks dig.
