I believe that the HD jackets have superior quality. It's one of the few items that I think you are not paying for HD on it.

Look for adequate ventilation, removable liners, armor in the back, shoulders and elbows, kidney belt, good closure at the bottom and wrists to keep the wind out

Heavy leather with good stitching, pockets if you need em. I like reflecive piping as well.

All addressed by the FXRG. It's not cheap, but it will last a long time. Vanson and Heins Geriche (spelling?) also make high quality.

Some guys don't like armor, liners, kidney belts, etc... so no frills you might want to look outside of HD.

I have a HD Nevada leather jacket for when it's cold. I have an HD mesh jacket for when it's not cold.

Love 'em both ... but did purchase at 20% off (Chicago HD) ...

Even though the harley clothing is all made in China now, the jackets are still high end. The thing to do is go into the dealer, pick a jacket (they all have names.....go figure), try it for size, then go to ebay and type in the name (ie; Torque Jacket), you'll pay a lot less for the same jacket.

Well I'll be the first this time to mention http://www.foxcreekleather.com/mensjackets.phtml

I have a FoxCreek jacket and chaps, and belt, and a tool bag, and several pairs of gloves. Everything I get from them is MADE IN THE USA, and the quality is second to none. Worth considering.

A traditional bike jacket (Marlon Brando style) is made by HD for between 350 and 400......You can get the same style....and weight jacket from leatherup.com for under 100. Make sure that you order the "top grade" one. It really is a great bargain. Got one myself.

I have the new FXRG and it is three jackets in one. I think it was worth the money.

I have a HD traditional motorcycle jacket right now that I like a lot. If and when I ever replace it, it will be with a traditional motorcycle jacket from Fox Creek. They are a little cheaper than Harley, just as high quality, and made in America.

Regards,

Bill
